Land transport channels: The China-Europe Railway Express has witnessed explosive growth, and multim

Against the backdrop of detours, delays, and price hikes in sea transportation, the diversion effect of the China-Europe Railway Express continues to explode, becoming the “stabilizer” of Eurasian trade. According to the latest data on April 2nd, in March 2026, the number of China-Europe Railway Express trips increased by 18% year-on-year, and core ports such as Xi'an, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Urumqi were in a full situation of “hard to find a container”. Among them, the demand for routes such as Wuhan—Baku and Chengdu—Turkey in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) has surged, becoming an important alternative channel connecting Eurasia.

On March 31st, at the “Key Point Hubei, Connecting the World” event, Hubei Province simultaneously launched three new international logistics channels, further enriching the layout of China's external logistics links. Among them, the freight route from Ezhou Huahu Airport to Sao Paulo (Brazil) is operated by Ethiopian Airlines. As China's first air freight line to BRICS countries, it operates 3 flights a week, and the delivery time is shortened by 2/3 compared with traditional sea transportation; the China-Europe Railway Express from Wuhan to Baku (Azerbaijan) realizes a combined rail + sea transport via the Khorgos - Trans-Caspian Corridor and can reach directly in 18 days, with a 15% cost reduction compared with the traditional route; the river-sea combined transport channel from Wuhan Yangluo Port to Tunisia has achieved the arrival of the first container of Tunisian olive oil, reaching directly in 35 days, opening up a new cold-chain and general cargo channel between the Mediterranean and the Yangtze River and providing more options for regional trade exchanges.
